Free yellow bus transportation services are provided by your child’s School District of Residence based on the address on file with the school that matches your most recent Proof of Residency documentation.

Per district policies

•  Eligibility for transportation services may be limited to a specific radius surrounding the location of the school.
• Requests for transportation must be received by July 1 and services will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, capacity permitting.
• Requests for transportation received after July 1st cannot be guaranteed and may not be considered for routing until October, due to the high volume of requests.

Cleveland Municipal School District (CMSD)

For students residing within the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD), transportation eligibility is determined by the distance between the student’s home address and the school.

CMSD Service Parameters

• Yellow Bus Transportation
  • K-8 students living 1 to 5 miles from school are eligible for yellow bus service.
• Payment in Lieu of Transportation
  • K-8 students living more than 5 miles from school and less than 30 minutes away may qualify for transportation reimbursement.
• Not Eligible for Transportation
  • Students living less than 1 mile from school (walk zone).
  • Students living 30 minutes or more from school.

How to Apply for CMSD Yellow Bus:

Office Managers or Family may complete and submit the Yellow Bus Transportation Request Form
The address on the form must match the address on file with the school. Please allow 5-7 days for processing. The Office Manager will provide the outcome of the request to the parent. Additional processing time is required at the beginning of the school year up to 2 weeks

• The address entered on the transportation request must exactly match the address on file with the school.
• Please allow 5-7 business days for processing.
• The Office Manager will communicate the outcome of the request to the family.
• During the beginning of the school year, processing may take up to two weeks due to increased request volume.

How to Apply for RTA Passes

Eligible students who qualify for CMSD-issued RTA transportation will have the application completed by the school’s Office Manager.
Families do not need to submit a separate RTA application unless instructed by the school.
